Ever wonder where the Jesuit seal came from? If you go to Siena, Italy, as did some of the delegates of GC35, you will discover the answer. In 1537, after Ignatius failed at Venice to go Jerusalem, he traveled from Venice to Rome to present himself to the Pope for mission. Traveling by foot, he stopped in Siena, the home of two saints (Catherine and Bernadine) and two popes (Pius II & III), and saw the IHS displayed there. The rest is history.
