k. What are your favorite sports, hobbies and areas of interest?
My favorite sports include: Soccer or football, swimming, pool or snooker,
table tennis, and computer games. As for hobbies, did I tell you that I love music, music and more music, sounds, instruments, singing voices, even silence? In my spare time, I love to play the piano or keyboard. I love dancing and singing too. I love traveling and meeting people. My areas of interest include: law, communication and human rights and equality. Just in case you don’t know, I am also a seasoned disc jockey (a.k.a DJ Miles).
l. Who is your historical icon?
My dad is my historical icon. He was born very poor, but he was able to rise above all the challenges and obstacles that could have hindered him from fulfilling his dreams as a man. Even though he did not have the opportunity of furthering his education as he would have loved, he was able to raise all his children to love and appreciate education. Above all, he is a very prayerful man.
m. You travelled a lot in the course of your formation. You have had the opportunity of studying in different cultures, countries and continent. Was culture shock something you ever had to grapple with? If it was, how were you able to confront it?
Racism and other varied cultural attitudes to life in general and to the vocation of priesthood are some issues that I have had to grapple with in the course of my many travels. Well, I confronted each and every one of them head-on when the opportunity presented itself.
n. In a sentence or two how would you summarize your experience and life as a Jesuit over these past years?
I have tried to be true to myself, to my identity as an African Jesuit and to my vocation; while being conscious of the demands and expectations that the life of religious vows makes on us.
