Welcome to St. Francis

Front View of Cusimano Class room BlockSt. Francis Catholic Secondary School (SFCSS), Idimu, is a Catholic school owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos and run by the Jesuits of the North-West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus. It was founded in 1990 by a Jesuit priest, Fr Francis Cusimano, S.J.

The school is located in Idimu, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State . It stands on a ten-acre piece of land that was donated to the Archdiocese of Lagos by the royal family of Idimu, the Olorunfunmi Family. Fr Cusimano, S.J., was then the parish priest of Christ the King Church , Ilasamaja.

Though a Muslim family, the Olorunfunmi family has high regards for Catholic education. It desired a Catholic secondary school that would cater for the educational needs of the Idimu community and its environs. The construction of a small classroom block on the land in 1990, by Fr Cusimano, S.J., and the admission of the first set of students on 2 January 1991 , marked the beginning of the realization of that dream for a quality Catholic education.

Today, St. Francis Catholic Secondary School, Idimu, has grown in leaps and bounds, asAngle View of the classroom block at St francis Catholic Secondary School evidenced by our over 1,200 students, more than 90 staff, and modern classroom blocks. It has become a reference point of quality education in Alimosho Local Government Area and beyond. The school is an accredited centre for West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Commission (NECO).

Our founder, Fr Cusimano, S.J., died on 18 November 1998 . But his spirit lives on in the mission of the North-West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus to ensure that St. Francis Catholic Secondary School, Idimu, sustains the Olorunfunmi Family’s desire and lives up to the school’s mission statement.
