How do you capture manifold experiences in a page of a paper?  My letter of appointment itself was shocker – no bearing with any of those points we usually reel out to our superiors.  Nevertheless, like St. Ignatius of Loyola, I have been in the battlefield; confident in the victory though the battle lingers.

With a memorable business background, I knew at once, any inquest to fundraising should as a matter of necessity begin from data collection.  So, from the archives left behind by my able predecessor – Fr John Sheehan, SJ – and other local resources available to me, we are rolling out fund-raising flyers, appeal envelopes, calendars, and souvenirs, while making concerted efforts to circulate them. If you pick up any of the afore-mentioned, you will find that we have an enormous task in our hands. 
 ANW province, barely 2years a province, is geographically vast – Nigeria –Ghana – Liberia – Sierra Leone – the Gambia – mostly countries devastated by wars and poverty. Apart from financial implications arising from a vast apostolic territory, the cost of Jesuit formation is heavy on our shoulder.  Furthermore, the management of the Province curia which is the hub of the entire province depends on public charity, royalties, and mission appeal. We count on generous men and women like you to provide accommodations and feeding for over 110 Jesuits.

 In a related development, a number of our Jesuit communities are suffering due to lack of vehicles which impedes on their busy apostolic work. Are you blessed by God? Do you hope to thank the Lord? Then you are on the right page.  There is no greater mission in the world today than the Jesuit mission which seeks the greater glory of God and the salvation of humankind.

Please, Cheques in Nigeria should be made payable to the Jesuit Fathers of Nigeria  and given to any Jesuit School or parish or individual Jesuits or you  could post them to The Provincial Residence, P.O. Box  223, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.
