Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J., has been elected the 29th successor of Fr. Ignatius. He was one time provincial of Japan (1993) as well as president of the Jesuit Conference of East Asia and Oceania (2004). His election as Superior General of the Society of Jesus has been ratified by Pope Benedict XVI.
